Well, he did it. He came into the UFC saying he was going to do it, and he did it. Conor ‘Notorious’ McGregor became the first fighter ever to be the champion at two different weight classes at the same time. He beat Jose Aldo last year to become the featherweight champion, and Saturday night he beat Eddie Alvarez to become the lightweight champ. He did the same thing in Ireland before coming to the UFC, and he told everyone this is what he was going to do. He talks the talk, and he walks the walk.

The fight was not even close with Alvarez. It was complete destruction from the moment the opening bell rang. Eddie had absolutely nothing for Conor and could not close the distance quick enough. He kept getting caught coming in. Conor kept his distance and timed his shots perfectly. Flawless. Besides knocking out Aldo in thirteen seconds, this was his greatest performance inside the octagon. He is such an amazing fighter, and that win quickly puts himself along with the UFC immortals alongside Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, and GSP.  He still has more time to add to his resume, and maybe a third belt.

He told us all a couple years ago, “We didn’t come to take part, we came to take over”. Take over he did. Not only did he just win his second belt, but he completely took over the entire UFC. He is an international superstar the flourishes in front of a camera. He is young, rich, and on top of the world. There is not much more to say about him that everyone doesn’t know already. He’s just great television, and the PPV numbers show it. He now has topped the UFC PPV record three times and makes a case when he says he is the reason why the UFC sold for 4.2 Billion dollars.

He has been talking about having an announcement after the fight. There were rumors about retirement or a year off, but he never mentioned either. He did announce that he will be a father early next year which everyone was expecting after seeing his girlfriend Dee Devlin. His other announcement was that he wants stake in the UFC ownership. He talks about all the celebrities being part owners now, mentioning Conan O’Brien and says he deserves a piece of the company after what he has done for it. I am not really sure how that will work out for him, but my guess is those greedy bastards will tell him to buy shares just like everyone else. Conor said it after he won “The double champ does what the fook he wants”.

What is next for Conor? Some say he should finish the trilogy with Nate, some say Khabib earned it, and some say he is going to go up to welterweight to fight for that belt now. Those are all real options. Khabib is probably being the most deserving, Nate being the most anticipated, and Woodley being the most interesting. Could he really go up to welterweight and win three belts? I don’t know how I can doubt him anymore, but I do feel those top welterweights may be a little bit too big for him. Khabib should be next in line for the title shot if Conor looks to defend his 155 belt, and I also think Dana is holding off on the Diaz trilogy to build more anticipation for it after already seeing them fight twice this year.

Only time will tell what is in line for Conor, but one thing is for sure, he is an amazing fighter and could end up as the best ever. Cant wait to hear who is next.

P.S.  Conor has demolished everyone he has faced inside the octagon now except one person. The more people Conor knocks out only builds the legend and the respect for Nate Diaz and his abilities as a fighter.
