Joanna Jędrzejczyk is the undefeated UFC Women’s Stawweight Champion, and after her years of dominance along with her impossible to pronounce last name, she has gained the fitting nickname “Joanna Champion”. She is 115 pounds of fury with perfect technique behind it. She got her chance to shine on the big stage Saturday night in the Big Apple when she successfully defended her title against fellow Polish fighter Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
The two Polish stars put on a fantastic fight for the biggest crowd to ever watch an MMA event. They showed the world how Polish women throw down, and boy did they. Joanna showcased her usual dominance with some of the best boxing combinations and leg kicks you can see from anyone inside the octagon. She was picking her apart per usual, only Karolina landed a huge left-hand that rocked Joanna and almost ended her unbeaten streak. Joanna showed the heart of a champion and survived the big trouble, regained her composure, and came back to win the rest of the fight and cement the unanimous-decision victory. Karolina proved to be a legit top-contender and gave Joanna a hell of a fight.
Joanna is the top-ranked female MMA fighter in the world and is the seventh-ranked pound-for-pound MMA fighter in the world, male or female. She is the only undefeated champion in the UFC and has been steamrolling her way through the Strawweight division with no end in sight. She is a must watch fighter who displays perfect technique and is a great inspiration for small women everywhere. Who knows who is next for her, but I know I’ll be watching.
