In Dallas, a grand jury announced that Johnny Manziel has been indicted on misdemeanor assault charges. The official announcement is expected to be made later today. The charges stemmed from an incident involving Manziel’s ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley. She claimed that the former Browns’ QB hit her so hard that she temporarily lost hearing in her ear.

This nightmare for Manziel is not ending anytime soon. This attack was in the past, but Johnny is not doing anything to keep himself out of the spotlight. He was spotted this past week at the Coachella music festival with Drake’s dad and suspended Browns’ WR Josh Gordon. His alcoholic tendencies have not only ruined his chances at an NFL career, but also his chances of a normal life.

Manziel told the press, early last week, that he was looking forward to getting his life straightened out, so he could make his return to the NFL. If he was really interested in fixing the problems in his life, he would take a month and go to a rehabilitation facility. Drugs and alcohol have taken a stranglehold on his priorities, and until they are gone, he will focus on nothing but those vices.

Even sober, I am certain no NFL team would be looking to have Manziel join their organization. He is a liability to their image, and his on-field performance has been lackluster, at best. In his 15 appearances, Manziel has thrown for 1675 yards with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. He was supposed to be a dynamic play-maker coming into the NFL, but his running ability was not much help either, as he gained 259 yards on 46 carries with one touchdown.

NFL fans have seen the last of Johnny Football, and the league is better off without his name tainting their public image.
