When discussing the League’s best big men, you can’t not mention Demarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis. The idea of having them on the same team felt like a dream for NBA fans who missed the days of relevant big men. When DeMarcus Cousins was held to limited minutes tonight, it left me wondering: was Boogie being traded?

It’s been a while since an NBA coach has ran an efficient Princeton offense with two dominant big men on the court at the same time. However, if there was ever a team who should try it, it’s definitely the new look Pelicans. The Pelicans now not only have two dominant big men in the post but also two capable stretch shooters who are also decent at passing the basketball for their position.
In an era of NBA basketball where all the teams are seeking combo guards to match the Warriors, I am very excited to see how the Golden State Warriors are going to handle this combination of size and scoring ability. In theory, the Warriors would certainly put up too many shots to lose versus the Pelicans at the moment, but if the Pelicans could upgrade their perimeter defense in the off-season, I certainly expect the Pelicans to become a force to be reckoned with in the Western conference. The Pelicans are new, they’re exciting. Anytime you add an all-star to your team, it’s a good day in my books.
Now with that being said:
Anthony Davis is a great player, and so is Cousins. But just how much better is that combination than that of the one in Los Angeles with Griffin and Jordan? Not to mention, I personally believe Alvin Gentry isn’t a great NBA coach, and the combo guards of the Clippers are far better than anything New Orleans has going on.
The Pelicans have a long way to go (roster wise) before becoming a force in the Western Conference from a guard stand point. However, they certainly have put together the corner pieces which the franchise will be built around. Not to mention, they have now become a whole lot more attractive to potential free agents. Dare I say a free agent like Chris Paul? One thing is for sure, the Kings wont be landing any quality free agents this summer.
Nevertheless, Divac's public and private proclamations that he wouldn't trade Cousins will impact his future credibility w/ agents, players.

This is a brand of basketball we haven’t seen in a while. I’m excited. League Pass subscribers should be excited. Most importantly, Pelicans fans, hope you’re excited.
