Is Bare-Knuckle Boxing Too Violent?

The Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship is a fight promotion that has received a lot of recognition after the amazing fight that took place on April 6.

Artem Lobov and Jason Knight both former UFC fighters who now fight in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Promotion competed. They fought each other in the main event at Bare Knuckle FC 5 in Mississippi. The fight sent shockwaves throughout the internet and the entire fighting world. It was an absolute bloodbath.

Bare-knuckle boxing is different than any other type of fighting. The punching style is different once you take the gloves off your hands. Also, once the knuckles aren’t covered by gloves, the cuts come at a frequent pace. We saw that in full effect with Lobov vs. Knight.

The picture of the two fighters after the fight is what really got the internet buzzing. They looked like they went through hell and back. Their faces were almost unrecognizable from before the fight. This picture is what had everyone asking the question: “is this too violent to last?”

Some people may think that picture is too disturbing. Some may think it’s awesome. Either way “bad publicity is better than no publicity,” right? I’m sure the Bare Knuckle FC is under that same impression with that fight and pictures circulating around the internet. Like it or not it’s getting eyes and interest on their promotion. With a big name in the MMA world, Artem Lobov getting the victory setting up the fight everyone wants to see only helps their case.

With a lot of former UFC and MMA fighters entering this promotion it really intrigues a fight fan such as myself to see them fighting bare-knuckle. To see a mad man and former UFC fan favorite Chris Leben fight someone bare-knuckle sounds awesome. I don’t know about you. The names are starting to build, but one name is really setting the promotion on fire. That name is former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi.

Boxing fans already know who he is, but he was also introduced to MMA fans when he had a feud with Conor McGregor. They famously sparred to help Conor prepare for Floyd Mayweather. The feud grew between the two going back and forth online and having to be separated when seeing each other. Well, everyone knows that Artem is one of Conor’s boys. So, it seems there’s a fight to be made between the two.

These rumors became very clear at the press event for Artem vs. Jason. Malignaggi showed up trash talking to make a scene, and he succeeded. They even had to be separated after they got into each others’ faces, and Paulie hit him with a slap in the face. So, everyone was calling for Paulie vs. Artem before Artem even fought Jason. The two had a staredown for pictures, and they weren’t even signed to fight yet. Artem still had to fight Jason the next day.

Artem won the fight via unanimous decision, so now, we’ll get what we wanted: Artem vs. Paulie in a bare-knuckle boxing match. They’ll fight in June in New Hampshire.

It seems the violence isn’t going to be too much. It may actually help the promotion. There are certain people who love and want that violence, and they want it turned up to 11 for Artem vs. Paulie. I’m one of those people.

If the public starts taking notice in the promotions, then violence may be an issue. If it gets shut down for being too violent, it likely won’t be for a while as more people and politicians and those “human cock-fighting” people actually see it.

So, let’s enjoy this crazy promotion while we can! Artem vs Paulie is going to be a real life grudge match and blood bath. Give it a chance before you make your opinion on it. Let me know what you think.
