Is Our Very Own Mateo Caliz Cursed?

Mateo Curse

Nobody has been paying attention to the Indiana Pacers all season. They were a nice little success story last year, but we all saw them get bounced in the first round. So, now they go on a nice little first-half run, and the NBA landscape doesn’t bat an eye, nor should they.

This was, of course, until our very own Mateo Caliz decided to shine some light on the Pacers solid little season. The piece was published 24 hours ago. Since then? Oh, just the Pacers franchise player goes out and suffers a season-ending knee injury. This will all but certainly ruin the Pacers chances of making any sort of run late in the season. If they make the playoffs at all, it’ll be a miracle.

Could this all have been avoided if Mateo would have just stayed silent while watching his team experience regular season success? It’s hard to say. What I do know are the facts.

  1. Mateo wrote that piece.
  2. Oladipo suffers season-ending injury.

I don’t know if we need much more than that. Do we?

Next thing you know, he’ll be using his powers for evil. He’ll start taking out the rest of the NBA knee-by-knee (other than Shaun Livingston -well because… you know) until his Pacers find their way to an NBA championship.

If I were you, I’d stay far away from anything Mateo decides to talk about or support. Nobody knows just how far this curse will travel. We want to talk about how real the “Drake Curse” is, but this is the real thing. One thing, however, holds true. Mateo is cursed, and there’s nothing we can do to stop it. What I advise you to do is run and hide. Get as far away as you possibly can. The damage may already be done.
