Uncle Mike’s 2019 NFL Week 5 Picks

2019 NFL Week 5 Picks

Week 4 of the 2019 season was possibly the worst week I’ve ever had picking against the spread. We finished the week 4-11, with a majority of underdogs winning, a few back-door covers, and an unexpected shoot-out between two NFC teams. It’s important for us to take what we saw, learn from it, and choose what we implement into this week’s selections. The 2019 NFL Week 5 picks will be important for us.

For example, the Rams clearly have some problems defensively. They are far from the defense we saw in the Super Bowl, giving up 40+ to Jameis Winston and the Bucs. L.A. made him look like a true first pick, something that’s yet to happen. With names like Aaron Donald, Aqib Talib, and Marcus Peters, I expected to see a lot more from them. We will take that into consideration.

The Bills’ defense proved to be strong still. They had been tested before, but New England was going to be a true marker. Even with Julian Edelman banged up and their running game sputtering, the Patriots were expected to come in a win by more than a touchdown. Buffalo’s QBs (Josh Allen and Matt Barkley) threw four interceptions, and the Patriots still couldn’t capitalize. Bills fans should be proud of that accomplishment. There may not be many household names on that defense yet, but there should be.

Overall Record ATS: 30-32-1

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

On Thursday, we watched the Rams face off with the Seahawks in Seattle. Both teams had their ups and downs in the first four weeks of the season, so an NFC West matchup would be another tough one to pick. With the spread being 1.5 in favor of the Seahawks, I felt comfortable taking the Rams. I felt they had a good chance of playing a close game and winning. They didn’t do that, but they were able to keep it a one-point game, securing our first TNF win of the season. We’re back on the right track!
